Edwardsville Rotary Names Alexandra Chong Student of the Month for March

EDWARDSVILLE - The Edwardsville Rotary Club has chosen to honor Edwardsville High School student Alexandra Chong with the Student of the Month Award for March. Alexandra was nominated by Edwardsville High School Math teacher Mollie Rice.

Alexandra is the daughter of Rich and Kimberly Chong and she is 17 years old. Alexandra is an Officer in National English Honors Society and is the Captain of the Varsity Girls Wrestling team. She is also a member of Science National Honors Society, National Honors Society, French Honors Society, and Mu Alpha Theta (Mathematics National Honors Society).

Alexandra is an Illinois State Scholar, has received the Coaches Awards for Women’s Wrestling, and has made High Honor Roll multiple times. Outside of school, Alexandra enjoys jewelry making, puzzles and Legos. Alexandra hopes to graduate from a Big 10 university, like Indiana University, with a bachelor's degree from their business program.

The Edwardsville Rotary Club recognizes a student each month, September through April. Each May, Edwardsville High School staff chooses one of the monthly winners to receive the $2,000 Edwardsville EHS Rotary Scholarship. The awards have been given since 1996 and the Edwardsville Rotary Club has given out over $35,000 in scholarships to date.
