ALTON - The Alton High School Robert Logan Doubles Invitational will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at three sites in Alton and Godfrey, Illinois, bringing 12 teams to a tournament that honors former Alton boys and girls tennis coach Robert Logan, who died in 2016 after battling cancer.

Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and is expected to conclude around 2:30 p.m., according to Alton head boys tennis coach Jesse Macias. The No. 1 doubles flight will be played at Alton High School, No. 2 at Lewis and Clark Community College, and Nos. 3 and 4 at Gordon Moore Park’s Simpson Tennis Center.

The late Robert Logan. “This tournament was rained out last year, so that was disappointing,” Macias said. “We always have some great teams and we want to celebrate Robert every chance that we get. He passed away ten years ago this year, and that is really hard to believe. But his spirit is still alive in our program and the community and this helps us remember the person and coach he was.”

The field includes O’Fallon, University High from Urbana, Effingham St. Anthony, Teutopolis, Rockton Hononegah, Greenville, Chatham Glenwood, Alton and Marquette Catholic from Illinois, along with Fort Zumwalt South and Desmet Jesuit from Missouri.

“Teutopolis won the tournament two years ago, and they are always talented,” Macias said. “But, I think Chatham might have the team to beat because they are so deep. O’Fallon and University High, plus Rockton and Springfield, are also going to be tough. We have a lot of state qualifiers in the draw, so all four flights will be competitive. All of the coaches I talked to are excited to be back playing in the Logan Doubles Tournament.”

Alton is also scheduled to play Rockton and University High on Friday at 1 p.m. at Alton High School.
