Firefighters had to stretch a significant amount of hose to establish a water connection because the nearest hydrant was located at the opposite end of the street from the house.

Crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control.

The Alton Fire Department requested that the Illinois State Fire Marshal investigate the cause of the fire.
