Midwest Members Credit Union Female Athlete Of The Month: East Alton-Wood River High Senior Nevaeh Flowers Celebrated For Volleyball Dedication

WOOD RIVER - Nevaeh Flowers has spent years building the qualities that now define her volleyball career at East Alton-Wood River High: steady effort, teamwork and a connection with teammates she describes as family.

Flowers, a senior at EAWR, is being recognized as a Midwest Members Credit Union Female Athlete Of The Month for volleyball during her senior year for her work ethic inside and outside the classroom and for being a good teammate over the years. Her coach is Bethany Hoyland.

Flowers said she has been playing volleyball since sixth grade. What she enjoys most, she said, is “being with my team that feels like a family.”

Her high school career and involvement in sports also have helped shape her personally.

“It has made me become a more social person,” Flowers said.

Flowers credited her family for supporting her throughout her athletic career, especially her father.

“I would like to thank my dad because he is my best friend and always pushes me to be better, and he is my biggest inspiration,” Flowers said. “I would also like to thank my family for being my biggest supporters.”

Flowers said she wants to become a pediatric nurse and will pursue her college studies in that area.
