Freeburg Tops Marquette Catholic Girls Volleyball Squad Despite Davenport And Stephan Efforts
Ari Davenport contributed kills and assists while Alex Stephan anchored the back row, but Marquette Catholic could not overcome Freeburg on Tuesday night.
ALTON - Marquette Catholic’s girls volleyball teams hosted Freeburg High School on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026, for volleyball matches, with the Explorers dropping the freshman, junior varsity, and varsity contests despite strong efforts.
The Marquette Catholic varsity team lost 25-20, 25-13.

The freshman team fell 21-17, 21-16. Explorers Coach Emma Deist said the junior varsity team also lost in two sets.
Deist noted several standouts for Marquette Catholic, including Ari Davenport with four kills and seven assists, Brooke Keller with seven assists, Mia Moore with four kills, and Alex Stephan with 18 good serve receives/digs.
Southwestern plays at Marquette Catholic on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026. The Explorers play at Carrollton girls volleyball at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026.
