Troy Woman Found Near Garden Dies Following Apparent Truck Strike
Madison County authorities identified the woman as 48-year-old Justina M. Wilbur, who was using the truck on her property before the fatal incident.
TROY, Ill. — A 48-year-old Troy woman died Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, after a truck she was using on her property apparently rolled down an incline and struck her, according to Madison County authorities.
Madison County Coroner Nicholas P. Novacich identified the woman as Justina M. Wilbur.

A family member found Wilbur unresponsive near a garden at her home, and 911 was notified at approximately 4:57 p.m. on Friday. She was taken by ambulance to Anderson Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead at 5:51 p.m. Friday.
A preliminary investigation by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office indicated Wilbur was using a truck with a water tank in the rear when it rolled down the incline and struck her.
An autopsy found the preliminary cause of death was a chest injury. Routine toxicology testing is pending, and a final cause and manner of death will not be issued until all reports are complete.
The sheriff’s office and coroner’s office continue to investigate.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Richeson Funeral Home in Troy.
