From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at City Park in Edwardsville, the market will host its final event of the summer season. This weekend is special with a Harvest Day theme, featuring fun kids’ activities as well as the market’s usual fresh produce, artisanal goods and community vendors.
“The market brings so much life to Main Street on Saturday,” said Sherrie Hickman, one of the organizers. “I think the market has been responsible for really helping revamp Edwardsville.”
This year marks the market’s 29th year in Edwardsville. It’s been another successful summer season, Hickman said, even though construction displaced the market from its regular spot. She is excited to return to the newly renovated Goshen Commons in 2027.
In the meantime, the market will commemorate Harvest Day with enthusiasm and fun for all at City Park. Kids can enjoy pumpkin decorating, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin seed games, pumpkin boats and other pumpkin-inspired activities. The normal vendors will be out and selling their wares.
Hickman noted that this weekend is the last chance to get your seasonal produce and honey before the market transitions to its monthly winter markets. These winter markets are held on the third Saturday of November and December.
While Hickman is looking forward to these events, she agrees there’s something special about the summer market every year. She is especially excited to prepare for the market’s 30th season in 2027.
“We have 24 markets during the full market season and it’s just surprising that we’re so close to the end already. Where did it go?” she said. “As fast as the season went, the winter market will go fast and we’ll be right back to planning next year’s market season.”
Hickman believes the Land of Goshen Community Market is special for several reasons. Most impressively, the market requires all products to be produced within 100 miles of Edwardsville. This means the farmers and vendors are local, and the produce is fresh.
“The Goshen Market is comprised of produce and artisan vendors that are from within 100 miles of Edwards, so you’re truly supporting local,” she said. “You’re supporting local farmers, local makers, families that are growing produce and supporting their families. You’re spending money with people that are local. Your produce has not spent days traveling from somewhere else. It’s most often taken the day before or the morning of and comes straight to the market. So it’s super fresh, and again, you’re supporting local growers and makers.”
Hickman hopes the Harvest Day market on Oct. 17 is a fun way to end the normal season. She encourages people to visit the official Land of Goshen Community Market website for more information about Harvest Day, the winter markets, and their 30th season in 2027.
You can also get involved as a vendor or volunteer. Hickman noted that the market is completely organized by volunteers, and she is proud to be a part of the team.
“It's a not-for-profit organization run by people that just want to make sure that local producers and local farmers are supported and people are eating healthy and getting local products,” she added. “We all love the market and we’re happy to volunteer time to make it happen.”
