“Since taking office, we have worked to make the DMV more convenient and accessible for Illinois residents,” said Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias. “Mobile DMV events allow us to bring essential services directly to communities, saving residents time and making it easier to take care of their DMV needs. This is another example of how we are rethinking the way government delivers services to the people of Illinois.”
Some Mobile DMV events utilize the Secretary of State’s self-contained DMV on Wheels units, which are equipped with onboard internet, allowing for quick setup at designated locations. Other pop-up events are held at community locations without the use of a Mobile DMV vehicle.
The Secretary of State’s office works with municipalities, organizations, businesses, universities and other community partners to host Mobile DMV events and bring services closer to residents. The Mobile DMV units also provide the office with greater flexibility to quickly establish service at a designated location when needed to avoid any disruption in service for customers.
Alexi Giannoulias was sworn into office as Illinois’ 38th Secretary of State on January 9, 2023. In this capacity, he also serves as the State Librarian and State Archivist. Giannoulias is committed to transforming the office’s antiquated IT infrastructure to modernize operations and improve customer service for all Illinoisans.
