BOYS SOCCER

EDWARDSVILLE 2, TRIAD 1: Bryce Merkel scored for Triad, but it was cancelled out by a goal from Ben Lovell in the second half, and just before the end of regulation, Brandon Morris found the back of the net to give Edwardsville the three points at Knights Field, allowing the Tigers to share the Southwestern Conference championship.

Edwardsville is now 10-5-1, while the Knights go to 12-3-2.

CIVIC MEMORIAL 1, JERSEY 0: Demar Martin got the breakthrough goal in the second half to give CM the three points at Jersey.

Brady Strubberg had four saves in goal to record the clean sheet for the Eagles, who are now 3-9-3, while the Panthers slip to 7-7-0.

In the rest of Tuesday's fixtures, O'Fallon won over Belleville East 6-1, Belleville Althoff Catholic won a Gateway Metro Conference match at Maryville Christian 6-2, Freeburg won over Trenton Wesclin 9-0, Waterloo shut out Breese Central 5-0, Highland stopped Mt. Vernon 7-2, Granite City held off Alton 1-0, and Mascoutah got past Collinsville 3-1.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 25-25, CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 19-21: In a tight match all the way through, McGivney had enough to hold off COR at the Griffins Lair.

Allyson Reed served up six points for the Griffins, while Elli Moore came up with five points. two aces, seven kills and a block: Maddie Durst, Kennedy Kreke, and Sondra Nohl all had three kills, and Elli Williams had eight assists.

McGivney is now 18-11, while the Stallions go to 1-23-1.

OTHER MATCHES

In other matches played on Tuesday, Mascoutah nipped O'Fallon 25-21, 25-23, Triad took care of Granite City 25-12, 25-7, Collinsville got past Highland in a three-setter 25-23, 13-25, 25-22, and Columbia won over Freeburg 25-11, 25-23.

JERSEY ATHLETICS

JCHS JV Football traveled to Columbia and won, 28-3. Grayson Mangara had 2 TD's, while Logan Strebel and Brady Kuehnel each had 1.

JCMS 7th/8th Grade Girls Basketball traveled to Calhoun to take on the Warriors. The 7th grade fell 19-41, while the 8th grade lost 15-45.
