Mark Nasello started 618 Precious Metals because he was “tired of the community getting ripped off” when people sold their jewelry and collectibles. His goal is to pay people what their items are worth. From 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 21, 2026, you can stop by the Fairfield by Marriott in Pontoon Beach to meet with Nasello and sell your precious metals onsite.

“Everyone leaves that day with a smile on their face,” he said. “That's the most important thing, especially in today’s age with how the world is. There’s a lot of negativity. There’s a lot of unfortunate stuff that’s going on. Everyone deserves a little bit of happiness and helpfulness and honesty. All those three things go a long way.”

Nasello began collecting jewelry as a teenager. As he became more interested in collecting, he realized that many buyers “pay much lower than they advertise.” Meanwhile, most people who are selling coins, jewelry and other collectibles simply don’t realize what their items are worth.

A few months ago, Nasello watched an out-of-town visitor lose out on a couple thousand dollars at a local shop because the offer was lower than it should have been and the visitor needed the money too much to look elsewhere. This was “the last straw” that pushed Nasello to start 618 Precious Metals.

“A lot of people just don’t know what it’s worth. They’ll go to some places or other events that’s not 618 Precious Metals. They’ll often get offered whatever by the owner of that shop or event, but they don’t ask any questions and they don’t tell them anything,” he explained. “I do it completely different. I break everything down with them, show them exactly what it’s worth, what the market is saying it’s worth, and pay them accordingly.”

It was important to Nasello to help his fellow community members get the prices they deserved. He shared that he can pay “what many people would call top dollar” because he has low overhead and personal relationships with “the biggest buyers in the country.”

The two-day buying event on Oct. 20 and 21, 2026, promises to be a great chance for local people to make money on their unwanted items. Nasello also offers an extra $20 upon completing a transaction to anyone who brings a friend.

He encourages people who have extra time to stop by a local pawn shop or jewelry store to get another offer, then come by the two-day buying event. His offers are usually much higher than what people are initially offered. It means a lot to him to help people in situations like this.

“It comes down to ensuring people get more for their stuff,” he added. “And if I can make a couple honest dollars in the process, then I’m a happy camper.”
