GODFREY - Construction on the next section of the F.E. Widman Bike Trail is scheduled to begin next year, extending the route from just east of Boy Scout Lane to Pierce Lane as development continues in phases.
The section, designated as phase three, is currently in the engineering stage. Construction is expected to take approximately five months. The project’s phases are not necessarily being completed in numerical order, with phase three scheduled ahead of phase two.

Several portions of the trail are already complete and in use. One runs from River Road through La Vista Park, across West Delmar Avenue, past Riverwood Subdivision and to Rocky Fork Church. Another completed section extends from Stamper Lane to Rolling Hills Golf Course.
Phase four currently consists of a 4-foot-wide sidewalk along a section of Pierce Lane. That section eventually will be widened to better accommodate bicycle traffic.
A sidewalk currently connects the bike trail at Pierce Lane to Glazebrook Park. Plans call for an eventual trail connection between Pierce Lane and the park through the Seasons Subdivision.
Phase two is scheduled to follow completion of phase three. Development north of Rolling Hills Golf Course still has several unknown variables, and dates for that work have not been determined.
