Founded in 1936, the business is receiving a refresh with new owners Tara and Brad Pickett. The duo moved the company to Wood River and they’re expanding the offerings. Both Tara and Brad are excited to relocate and share their expertise with the Wood River community.
“[Wood River is] a very tight-knit community, and that’s what we want for this company as we grow it,” Brad said. “We’re just trying to diversify what we offer the customers and bring it all into one house.”
Brad and Tara also own Rustic Roots in Wood River, and they said the city has always been supportive. They were eager to relocate Eberhart so they could continue to build relationships with the city and other small businesses.
Eberhart Sign & Lighting offers mounted signs, pylon signs, monuments, billboard signs, interior and exterior vinyl graphics, vehicle wraps and more. The company also provides parking lot lighting, building lighting and jumpstone lighting. Brad and Tara hope to add to their offerings in the coming months.
Brad comes from a security and electrical background. Because of his 25-plus years in the industry, he plans to implement a security division for commercial and residential clients as well as in-house fabrication.
These services will add to the work that Eberhart already does in the community. The Picketts noted that they are proud to be a part of the Eberhart legacy and the company’s next chapter.
“It gave us a good 90-year-old name in this Metro East community that we can build off of, that has the reputation we want for ourselves and this team. We can just continue to grow that,” Brad said. “Keeping this the small family-owned business that it has been for 90 years is really important to us. But by doing that, we still want to continue to grow the business.”
Brad and Tara thanked the Eberhart team members, many of whom have been part of the company for years now. From journeymen electricians to an in-house graphic team, everyone at Eberhart plays a valuable role in keeping the business running and providing the best possible services to the community.
As the Picketts have built their own business with Rustic Roots, they understand the importance of marketing, which is part of the work that Eberhart does with their signs and lighting. It’s exciting to the husband-and-wife team to help other businesses in this way.
“It’s no different from how we looked at our own business and how we want to market, how we want to brand it, how we want to advertise. Being the leading force for that for local businesses now, it’s exciting, especially with all the growth in this area. There are new businesses every day,” Brad added. “It’s just fun being in front of that and helping them build a brand and helping them get the exposure they need for their companies.”
