Brown is currently Alton’s Fourth Ward alderwoman. She noted that she is a “grassroots person” who cares about people in the community because she is one of them. She encourages people to vote on Nov. 3, 2026, and to support her campaign.

“I’m running because I believe District 111 deserves leadership focused on preparing our communities for the future while making life more affordable today,” Brown said. “Every issue we’re discussing affects real people, and that’s who I engage with every day: real people with real problems…I believe District 111 needs a different approach focused on what's next.”

Brown shared that she is a mother of three and has been a foster parent to nearly 200 children. She previously served on the Alton Community Unit School District #11 Board of Education and has always promoted education. She is a caretaker for her 90-year-old mother, so she said healthcare is a major concern for her.

As an alderwoman, Brown has sponsored field trips for the community’s kids. She recently helped bring the 40 Days of Nonviolence initiative to Alton to address gun violence. She emphasized that helping kids is a priority.

“I believe investing in education is investing in our future workplace,” she said. “We have to invest in education to get our children prepared for the workforce. And speaking of the workforce, we want to keep our communities youth-ready. That means we have to bring in some jobs. We’ve got to bring in things that’ll keep their attention, like fair wages, fair benefits, and that’s not only for our youth, but for those who are even there now.”

Brown also expressed her support for unions, which she believes “build the middle class, the people that are sometimes left behind.” She added that she is “fighting” for Teamsters Local 525, the union currently striking in Alton.

She noted that property taxes and affordability are major concerns for constituents. Incumbent Illinois State Representative Amy Elik has served since 2021; Brown suggested it might be time for “a different strategy.”

“Property taxes are here to stay, but they can be managed,” she said. “I appreciate anyone trying to lower the cost. But property taxes remain one of the biggest issues in District 111. If homeowners and seniors are still struggling after six years, it’s fair to ask whether a different strategy is needed. The goal, I do believe, is in lowering property tax burdens and stronger schools, not at the expense of the people, but we have to find alternatives for this.”

Brown added that she is respectful of Elik’s work, but thinks it’s time for a new voice. She emphasized that she is interested in representing the people of District 111 in Springfield.

“I respect her service, but after six years, voters are still raising concerns about affordability, showing up, voting records, dodging hard votes, workforce development, and preparing young people for future opportunities,” Brown said. “District 111 is full of hardworking people, people I’ll be representing: teachers, nurses, skilled trade workers, small business owners, parents, students, seniors. District 111 has tremendous potential…The future economy is already being built. So my job when I go to the State House as your next Illinois State Rep for District 111 is making sure District 111 is prepared to lead it. I’ll be honored, honored, honored to get the vote of the people in District 111.”

Brown encourages people to vote now or on Nov. 3, 2026. You can visit her official website for more information about her work and her priorities.
