BOYS SOCCER
IHSA PLAYOFFS --- REGIONAL FINALS
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 4, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 1: In the Class 1A regional final at Trenton Wesclin, Rowan Fischer, Brendan Kayser, Will Rakers, and Owen Weissert all scored to give McGivney the regional title in a win over Marquette.
Patrick Gierer made nine saves in goal to help the Griffins advance to the sectional.
The Explorers end the season at 14-5-3, while McGivney is now 16-6-0, and move on to the Columbia sectional, where they'll play the host Eagles, who won the Murphysboro regional over the Red Devils, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
In other Class 1A finals, Althoff won over Breese Mater Dei Catholic 8-0 to win their own regional, and Hillsboro won their own regional over Carlinville 6-2, The Waterloo Gibault Catholic regional final between the host Hawks and Freeburg was suspended, with the scores level at 1-1.
In the Class 2A final at Carbondale, Triad eliminated the host Terriers 4-1 to go to the Alton sectional, and will play the Chatham Glenwood winner at 7 p.m. at Public School Stadium.
The Knights are now 17-3-3, while Carbondale's season concludes at 12-8-0.
OTHER ACTION
In the Class 3A final at Belleville West's Bob Goalby Field, Edwardsville defeated Collinsville 3-0 to advance to their own sectional at Tiger Stadium, and will play against the winner of O'Fallon or Normal Community Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Tigers are now 13-8-1, while the Kahoks' season ends at 9-14-1,

THURSDAY'S RESULTS
In matches played on Thursday, Mt. Vernon won over Collinsville 25-21, 25-22, Marissa-Coulterville got past New Athens in a three-set match 25-22, 17-25, 25-14, Centralia took a 25-21, 25-13 win over Civic Memorial, Belleville Althoff Catholic swept Marquette Catholic 25-21, 25-12, Columbia got past Breese Central 22-25, 25-23, 25-15, Pinckneyville defeated Waterloo 25-19, 25-23, Freeburg won over Jersey 25-12, 25-14, Red Bud won over Sparta 25-15. 25-22, and Highland swept Marion 2-0.
FRIDAY'S RESULTS
Breese Mater Dei Catholic won a pair of matches at the Quincy Invitational tournament, defeating Lincoln 25-12, 25-12, then went on to a 25-15, 25-10 win over Macomb.
