From 5–7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, you can enjoy the trunk-or-treat at the supportive living community, complete with bounce houses, food and plenty of candy. Executive Director Greg Jovi and Marketing Director Angie Hillis encourage people to bring their kids and have fun. They noted that it’s not only a great night for visitors, but also a fun chance for the residents to engage with the community.

“It’s an important event for [our residents] as well as the greater community,” Jovi said. “They really look forward to this time of year because they get to see all the little ones all dressed up. It’s a sell-out there. All of our residents like to come out and help. They’ll set up a table and give out candy, or we will have snacks and drinks and stuff for folks coming through. They help get that together. We mention how proud we are of our community; our resident base is just as proud of what we do there, and they want to show it off. They want to be a part of our events and things.”

Cambridge House of Maryville serves seniors ages 65 and older. They have a variety of housing options, activities and experiences for the residents to enjoy.

Jovi and Hillis noted that a “common misconception” is that Cambridge House is a nursing home. As a supportive living community, Cambridge House doesn’t provide the high-end medical care that a skilled nursing community offers.

Instead, the community is primed for residents who are still somewhat independent but might need a basic level of support. Residents have access to meals and laundry assistance. They can also receive medication management services or therapy, among other resources.

“[People] hear supportive living, assisted living, whatever, and they think nursing home. Those offer a great service. But the population we’re looking for is not ready for that,” Jovi said. “They’re still up and active and wanting to do their Wii Bowling tournament and ceramics class. They’re wanting to walk around the building and do an exercise class and that kind of stuff.”

Supportive living communities are similar to assisted living communities, but residents have the support of Medicaid and do not have to pay out of pocket. Jovi noted that the team at Cambridge House can help prospective residents get set up with Medicaid or answer any questions about how this works.

You can also come into Cambridge House and be Medicaid-pending, which allows you to transition to Medicaid later on without having to move to a new apartment. Jovi and Hillis emphasized that their goal is to help seniors find the right home for them.

The duo added that the staff members at Cambridge House are all engaged and eager to assist the residents. As the executive director, Jovi believes his job is to provide his staff with the resources they need to give back to the community. Together, the team at Cambridge House works hard to make sure residents are healthy, happy and successful.

“They do an amazing job of recruiting people to come in and making sure our seniors are fed, housed, and taken care of,” Jovi added. “With us being a supportive living community, they can do that regardless of their ability to pay out of pocket. We really offer a great service, and the team there at Cambridge House of Maryville is fantastic.”
