O’FALLON, Ill. — As another milestone in HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital’s $116 million growth project to expand access to care in the region, the new outpatient imaging services department will open to patients Oct. 28, 2026. The imaging services available at this standalone building, located at 45 St. Francis Way on the northeast corner of the hospital campus, include open MRI, mammography, CT, X-ray and bone density (DEXA) scans.

All services except X-ray have relocated from St. Elizabeth’s Convenient Care on Green Mount Road to the new building. X-ray remains available at both locations, as well as within the hospital. Hospital leaders and colleagues gathered on Oct. 26 for a special first look at the new space and participated in a blessing for the staff and those who will use the space in the future, as is tradition that reflects the hospital’s Franciscan heritage. “

Watching this building take shape has been exciting, and we’re grateful to the teams and construction crews who have helped bring it to life,” said Chris Klay, President and Chief Executive Officer of HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and HSHS Southern Illinois Market. With an environment constructed for the convenience and comfort of all patients, the imaging department and waiting area are located on the first floor of the building directly accessible from the main building entrance.

“Whether someone needs a routine mammogram or an MRI their physician ordered, they can now get it close to home in a space built specifically for outpatient imaging.” Klay added, “The opening of outpatient imaging is an exciting first step as we prepare the new space to welcome patients for surgical services and other specialties in early 2027.” The HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Surgery Center will also be located in this new building and is expected to open in early 2027.

With four operating rooms and two procedure rooms, the center significantly expands access to outpatient surgical care for patients in the region. The building will also have lab, infusion and pain management services and specialty physician offices. For more information about HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, visit steliz.org.
