Opinion:
As Madison County Circuit Clerk, I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand what makes a good judge. I can say without hesitation that Judge Patrick King possesses the experience, character, and integrity our judiciary deserves.

Judge King is more than a great judge. He is a dedicated public servant, a true friend, and a professional who understands the value of hard work. Before his judicial service, Patrick successfully ran his own small business for many years. That experience gave him a practical understanding of the challenges facing working families, business owners, and people in our community.
Judge King is also deeply respected throughout the legal community. He has served as president of local bar associations, including the Madison County Bar Association, demonstrating his commitment to the legal profession. More than eighty local attorneys who have appeared before him rated Patrick first in every category- including legal ability and integrity. That kind of feedback speaks volumes about the respect he has earned from the very people who have experienced his courtroom firsthand.
I am a personal witness to Judge King's legal ability and have watched him preside over a well-respected courtroom. He understands the law, and recognizes that every person who comes before the court deserves to be treated fairly and with dignity. The courtroom is not a place for on-the-job training. It demands experience, sound judgment, and the ability to make difficult decisions thoughtfully and impartially. Patrick has demonstrated those qualities over and over again.
His appointment by the Illinois Supreme Court is another important testament to his qualifications. The Court, composed of five Democrats and two Republicans, unanimously appointed Judge King to serve as Circuit Judge. In addition, Patrick is the only candidate in this race with endorsements from both major political parties. I believe that broad support reflects confidence in his qualifications and ability to serve the people of Madison County.
Judge King's character extends far beyond the courtroom. He is a devoted husband and father whose family is central to his life. He is also in his fifth year of the diaconate program through his church and is soon expected to become a deacon. His commitment to faith, family, and service reflects the same dedication and sense of responsibility that he brings to the courthouse.
Judge King has also shown his commitment through an extraordinary effort to meet voters personally. He has worked tirelessly, knocking on nearly 7,000 doors to introduce himself, listen to concerns, and talk with the people he hopes to serve. Along the way, he has earned support from business owners, elected officials, current and retired judges, community leaders, and many others who recognize his qualifications and dedication.
I believe the choice in this election comes down to what we want in a Circuit Judge: proven experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to those we serve. Patrick King has demonstrated these qualities throughout his judicial service and in both his personal and professional life.
I am proud to call Patrick King my friend, but my support for him is about more than friendship. It is grounded in what I have personally seen him accomplish, how he conducts himself professionally, and the respect he has earned from others. I know the demands of our court system, and I know how much it matters to have an experienced, capable judge on the bench.
Madison County deserves a judge who is prepared to serve from day one, who understands the responsibility of the position, and who has earned the confidence of those we represent.
Experience matters. Character matters. And Judge Patrick King has both.
I strongly encourage the voters of Madison County to join me in supporting my friend, Judge Patrick King, for Circuit Judge.
