Harper Dettmers Shows Responsibility at Father McGivney Catholic High School

GLEN CARBON - Harper Dettmers is an impressive student athlete.

For her hard work, Harper Dettmers is a Student of the Month for Father McGivney Catholic High School.

Dettmers, a senior, has played varsity soccer and volleyball for four years. Her soccer team won the IHSA 1A Girl’s Soccer State Championship last spring, and she was recognized as an all-sectional player and received honorable mention all-conference recognition.

It takes a lot of responsibility and dedication to balance multiple sports and school, but Dettmers does so gracefully. She has maintained her spot on the high honor roll for three years.

She is also a member of the National Honor Society, where she serves as head of the Change a Child’s Christmas program. She has been a House Leader for two years and a Student Ambassador for four years. In these roles, she guides and mentors her peers.

As a parishioner at Saint Boniface and a Eucharistic Minister, Dettmers’s faith is important to her. She also plays club soccer, babysits, and bakes as a “side hustle.”

In her limited free time, Dettmers enjoys baking, playing soccer, watching movies, running, volunteering, cooking, and being with her loved ones. She knows exactly what she wants to do after high school. Her family, friends and teachers will be cheering her on.

“After high school, I plan to pursue a career in nursing and playing collegiate soccer,” she shared. “I plan on going to grad school to become a nurse practitioner and even working as a travel nurse.”

Congratulations to Harper for this recognition by Father McGivney Catholic High School!
