“I'm incredibly honored and grateful to the voters who put their trust in me,” Geldert-Murphey said in a statement.

She said campaign conversations with residents across the district focused on strong schools, affordable prescriptions, good-paying jobs and a better future for their families.

“We may not always agree on how to get there, but we can work together to find the solutions the Metro East needs now,” she said.

Geldert-Murphey pointed to her career as a civil engineer as the foundation for her approach to serving in Springfield.

“As a civil engineer, I've spent my career building bridges and bringing people together to solve problems,” she said. “That’s who I will be in Springfield, too.”

She also pledged to remain accessible to constituents, regardless of whether they supported her.

“Whether you voted for me or not, my door is always open and just because this election is over, doesn’t mean that I’ll stop listening to everyone,” she said. “It's time to get to work building a stronger Metro East.”
