“To my 4th Ward constituents, I’m proud to remain your Alderwoman,” Brown wrote in a message thanking supporters after the election.
Brown congratulated Elik and the other winning candidates and expressed appreciation for her campaign team, family, friends and those who voted, prayed, donated, volunteered and encouraged her.
“I got a lot of votes which showed me that I am well received,” Brown said.
Looking ahead to her work on the Alton City Council, Brown said she wants council members to listen to constituents, respect one another despite disagreements and work toward greater unity.
She identified getting the Teamsters back to work as the council’s biggest task and thanked unions, Alton residents and surrounding communities for their support.
Brown said the campaign experience would help her strategize for the future while continuing her work in the community.
“My work in serving the people will always remain near and dear to me,” she said.
