A request from the Village Engineering department to solicit a request for qualifications (RFQ) for engineering services related to drainage improvements at the Wick-Mor Place and Storeyland subdivisions was unanimously approved by the Godfrey Finance Committee and Village Board on Nov. 4, 2026.

According to a memo to trustees from Village Engineer Rich Beran, the RFQ is for a drainage study, preliminary engineering, land acquisition and construction engineering services for stormwater improvements to both subdivisions.

The memo states several projects on the Village’s stormwater projects list are located within the area of both subdivisions. Beran expects construction on these improvements to take place in 2028 or 2029, following completion of the drainage study involving some form of “public engagement.”

“A drainage study with some public engagement would evaluate the causes of the existing issues and identify any currently unknown issues,” Beran stated in the memo. “This approach is believed to be the best way to solve the drainage issues in this area of the Village.”

Beran noted that completing design work for both project areas at the same time would be more efficient than working on them separately as individual projects. With some stormwater projects of similar size and scope being in close proximity to one another, Beran said one construction project could address multiple issues, saving the village time and money.

Once a contractor has been selected to perform the work described in the RFQ, a proposal will be presented to the Village Board for approval at a future meeting.
